Attended the Chamber luncheon today, and listened to Frank Hughes who was the guest speaker for the new Whiskey Jack Resort Development in Sparwood, that will soon see hundreds of condo's, townhouses, etc., and a world class signature Golf Course designed by Fred Couples. Property values have already risen by 40% in the last year or two, fuelled on in large part because of this development.

Everywhere around the Crowsnest Pass is booming with major developments. While not much seems to be happening here! Is it by 'accident' or 'design' that somehow we are the lost and forgotten jewel of the Rockies? ... meanwhile, time keeps marching on...

Last week-end, motivational speaker and tourism operator Sandy Best from Banff, was invited by our local Chamber to speak to us on tourism and marketing. The overall theme that I came away with from that very entertaining and informative evening was how very little vision and direction, we as a community have. Therefore, we are not living anywhere near our potential, obviously due to not having a plan or roadmap of where we as a community want to go, how we plan on getting there, and what we want to do once we do get there. It's almost like we are letting 'events' dictate to us how things are going to be. We do as we have always done... just.. 'go with the flow'... How sad!... to bad!!!

The positive side to all this is that we still have time to take the helm and steer our ship to safe harbour, before times and events stir us into troubled and dangerous waters. What we desperately and urgently need right now, is a ship's captain! Someone not 'buried in the past', but who instead can 'preserve the past, while planning the future'.



Oh, Zarathustra, where art thou??? Come down from your mountain and save us!!! :-):-)
