Crowsnest Revitalization Initiative
First let me say that Shane Stewart is a good man and he makes a lot of good points, most of which are a regurgitation of what I (and others) have been saying for the past 10 years. For one example, with respect to our community's declining population. In 2001, during the election forum, I gave a speech at that time about our community's declining population.
I am not going to go through the list of recommendations that this group came up with because I know most people are well aware that what they said is nothing new. As I already stated, I (and others) have spoken out many times, on many occasions, on them over the years.
My concern here is that Shane Stewart and his group left one important detail out of their presentation. And that is, who is responsible for the mess we find ourselves in? Don't they believe in accountability? And are not some of the players in Shane's group the same one's (including his co-chair) who aided and abetted our illustrious leader in perpetrating the social and economic disaster we are now facing, and which will take many of us years to unravel and set straight? Have they changed their tune, now that they know he will soon be forced out of office and will probably be moving back to Edmonton (after all, what will be here for him once retirement kicks in?) leaving us broke, in debt and drained as a community.
Yes, for someone as smart and respected as Shane is, I find it surprising that he surrounds himself with some of the very people who helped create and perpetuate the mess we are in, and not with those of us who have been fighting for years for 'progressive change', instead? As exemplified by my closing speech at the Election Forum of 2001. Is it because these same people are still being directed by their leader to make sure 'progressive change' does not happen, by keeping people like myself out of the decision making process? i.e. Adhoc Committee
The main dangers in this life are the people who want to change everything - or nothing.

Harper needs to be a peoples PM and do like Obama
This is a peoples President. And the vast majority of credit card holders are saying... Go Obama, GO!!!!!!!
Now where is Canada's Obama? I heard the other day that two of our banks are now rated in the top 6 banks in the US. These same banks (Canadian) are not charging transaction fees at ATM machines, nor are they charging a whole slew of other user fees and bank charges for this and that, to their US customers. But they do charge us Canadians... to the tune of billions of dollars annually.
I've spoken before about this issue and the unfairness being perpetrated upon Canadians by these shylock financial institutions, while our government does nothing! Other types of white-collar crime are running rampant in this country too, with absolutely no accountability what-so-ever when the odd one does get caught. A jail sentence that for all intents and purposes is nothing more than a tap on the wrist with time served at a country club. A two-tiered justice system is what we got i.e. The law for the poor and justice for the rich.
The powers to be in this country (from all parties) need to wake-up to the fact that people are 'hurting', and they’re not going to take it no more. In my opinion, they better do something about it soon, or we will have a crisis on our hands that will make the last depression look like a cake walk. Hostility boils in the underclass. These days life is tough enough, without having piranhas and sharks taking bites out of you every time you turn around, while the people who are suppose to protect and look after you have their collective heads buried in the sand.
The real sadness is that Harper and his 'fat and happy' conservatives seem oblivious to what is going on in the real world, and are behaving like status quo demi-gods. Isn't that what King Louis and Marie Antoinette did before Lady Guillotine chopped off their heads? That's it!!! We need heads to roll in this country before real change takes place for the people, by the people. Bowling anyone???
For in a world where anything or anyone can be owned, manipulated, and exploited for profit, everything and everyone will eventually be.

Eric Margolis
I liked his article so much that I went to his website. One of the many intersting articles that caught my attention there was the following one on WW1 and WW2 DEFLATING THE CHURCHILL MYTH. In my opinion this is the 'holy grail' of revisionist history dealing with this time period. Have we been fed 'propaganda crap' over the years, or what? Judge for yourself? Just as an example, did you know that JUDEA declared war on Germany back in 1933! Never knew that! And I know and love my history. In fact, I have recently started reading the two volume definitive book on world history (or world-as-history) by Oswald Spengler called the 'The Decline of the West'. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll love it. Fascinating comments too.
"West-European scheme of history, in which the great Cultures are made to follow orbits round us as the presumed centre of all world-happenings, is the Ptolemaic system of history."

It's Great to be Alive in the 'Beautiful' Crowsnest Pass
After what seemed like an 'awful' long winter, spring has finally sprung. What a 'beautiful' sunny day it is here in the Pass this afternoon! Its times like this that we locals know how truly blessed we are to be so fortunate to live here. With its majestic beauty, fresh air and open spaces (with easy access to even more). Life here is pretty good!
You know, in a funny way I love my enemies here in the Pass almost as much as my friends. In fact there is a quote that sums up my thought here, and that is as follows: "in a friend one should have one’s best enemy." Now why is that? Why is it that we have this 'bond'? I think it is because of a sense of community, of having shared battles together (sometimes on opposite sides), and having 'survived' or 'weathered' the good times with the bad (like what a farmer goes through over the years with his crops). Also, no matter if we like each other at times (or not); we still feel that sense of community... of family. And like a small family we have learned to agree to disagree, in a civilized manner (if you don't count council meetings :-)) You can't buy that! But you can buy in. Watch it!! After all, I am a Realtor; I could try to sell you something. :-) lol!
Seriously, I don't know what I am doing here blogging. I'm out of here! There is a picnic table out back with my name on it, and I can hear the birds chirping calling for someone to come out and appreciate their beauty and joy, at being alive. I also have a good book I want to read. ;-)
Unity with nature is the foundation of man's existence on the planet.

Gutless wonders
With the results of this poll, and after our moment of SILENCE in my last blog post below, and knowing that we now have an overly high proportion of seniors residing in our community (55+ = 36.8%), it is quite apparent to me now that anyone trying to be pro-active in this community is wasting their time.
Like a former female councillor said after losing an election "Fu-- them, they deserve what they get!" I have come to the same conclusion.
In this regard, I have exercised my right of 'self-censorship' and deleted my comment in my previous SILENCE blog post, with respect to a 'Call for Action!' in The Crowsnest Pass, in regards to the Community Standards Bylaw.
I have come to the realization that I don't want to take on any kind of leadership role with respect to this matter, or any other (I remember how they paid me back the last time. Work your ass off, give it all you got for the greater good, and find you did all that for 'nothing', as they ignored your warnings and advice and even took your 3 years of paycheques too (legal fees). Then they try and 'starve' you out, as 'payback' , for being one of the 'few' to actually do your job.). No thanks!!
As I have already stated, I realize now that I have been putting far too much attention and energy fighting for the Crowsnest Pass. It is a wasted effort! From now on, I will limit my commentary on the Pass and will instead concentrate on saving the rest of the world... which should be a snap, in comparison to this place. :-)
They say the Pass is a unique place. It is! It compares quite well with the elephant burial grounds in Africa, where old elephants went to die. The Pass has turned into a burial ground where old people come to die, in peace and quiet... Shoo, don't make any noise! You might wake the dead. :-o
With the above in mind, and now with the front page newspapers revelation that the Pass is now recognized as one of the Child-Porn Capitals of Canada, I am so disgusted and ashamed with our community and its gutless wonders that I have removed the name Crowsnest Pass from the title in my blog.
Nondeterminism means never having to say you are wrong.
