John, it ain't going to happen. How many of the 130,000 or so on the Facebook site got out and voted last time? Not many, I'd bet. If they had voted, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.
Nor will they be marching in the streets in any numbers, unless they get the Global Warming /Climate Change crowd to join them; that is, if all of the snow and ice we have even lets them get to the march.....
The number of Canadians that vote in our Elections is pathetic. We get what we deserve. Those that do vote appear to protect their interests, and the majority are likely part of the 50% of the people that support the other 50%. They also are included in those that you use above to disparage the HarperCons -- take away the soldiers/police; the politicians; the private sector workers; and the oil/gas sector -- and who do you have left? You left out the government workers that are going to protect their jobs, when push comes to shove.
Perhaps the internet crowd can rally the support needed to boot the Govt. They appear quite stirred up.(Once the Beatles got the crowd thinking their way, sold all of their records and became the ultimate Capitalists, they headed off to Tibet to meditate. I didn't see them marching in the streets.....)
Times have changed so we'll see if it goes the way it did in the last USA Presidental election, or if it fizzles as it always has in the past. My bet is on the latter.

Jose,
Welcome, oh brave one (other Pass rats appear to be too scared to be seen (even anonymously) commenting on my blog of late... ever since Harper announced prorogation and I started speaking out on it... I wonder if it is because of something I said? :-) ) !
I think this time it is different. This time it is about our country, how it is being run and how we want to see it run. This time it is about the fundamentals of our democracy. People are looking and talking past particular issues, with a look at the broader scope of governance. January 23 will be the bell-weather. Everyone, including the media, will take their cue from how many people actually come out and demonstrate, and how passionate they are in doing so.
It is my guesstimate that if an election is called shortly after the upcoming GG throne speech, you will see record voter turn out. Things are starting to go the way of Brian Mulroney’s conservatives election under Kim Campbell. The groundswell that is happening is directly proportional to the slide that is occurring for the HarperCons. It was inevitable that this would happen. My only surprise is how come it took so long?
The Beatles didn’t need to go marching in the streets; they and others gave the people the music and lyrics to do it for them. After all, “music hath charms to soothe a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.".... Now, my friend, it is time for some Marvin...
"What's Going On"
Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Ah, what's going on
In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on
Right on
Father, father, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Ya, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
I'll tell you what's going on - Uh
Right on baby
Right on baby
Jose, I’m so sorry to see you being such a pessimist when you could be joining us in celebrating, once again... sex, drugs and rock and roll!!! The flower children are coming back!! Peace and Love shall prevail once again! Get ready to let your hair grow long and hang down... I’m predicting, flowers and beads will again be hot commodity items. Buy in now, while you still can! And grow rich... you capitalist swine. :-)
Having said the above, the truth is I stuck with Elvis through much of the Beatles and the Flower Power era. :-( But don’t tell anyone, because I wouldn’t want it to destroy my persona. lol :-) :-)
I knew you ain't nothing but a hound dog! :)
:-) lol :-)
