In the last few weeks, especially, much has been said about the future of the Crowsnest Learning Centre (CLC). Now that it is pretty much mothballed, I say my vision of years back for this place still applies, makes the best sense, makes the best use, and gives our municipality the biggest bang for the buck. What can this be you ask? Nothing less than a Hotel/'Casino'/Convention Centre.
They say in business its all about LOCATION, LOCATION LOCATION. Well, the CLC has that in spades! In addition, it is isolated i.e. it will not disturb anyone in the area - in fact, it will compliment it. It will also create much needed JOBS, JOBS, JOBS and a much needed tax base as well. Check out what I said about this during my term on municipal council (1998-2001) by way of a proposal to council...

Taking action leads to results; not taking action only leads to feelings of hopelessness – and helplessness.

Boy! Based on the lack of response here and on my earlier posts dealing with issues relevant and important to our community, one would think people don't care? If that is the case, then don't cry when you get the government you deserve and land up with a community on an ongoing downward slide into the abyss. If I can be slightly melodramatic. :-)
Seriously, I'm really surprised in our local media and blogging world to see a handful of Anons only - and that's it! - with respect to potential municipal candidates with ideas and vision, or at least opinions... we don't even get that for the most part from our incumbents (except for one notable exception). Go figure??? For a community that has been crying for an election for the past year or so, this doesn’t make any sense? What’s everybody waiting for... an invitation? :-) If people want change they’re going to have to step forward (not anonymously, either) and make it happen! Here, on this blog, is one way of making that happen. Take advantage of it, or not, it’s your choice?
If you are too scared to stand up now and take a position on things, don’t think one 2 minute speech at the election forum is going to necessarily give you a pass to a seat where that is all you will be doing... making decisions. If you can’t make them now, what makes you think you’ll be able to make them later?
Maybe you should start practising here so that later you can shine there, if you know what I mean? :-) Let’s hear what you got to say. BE PROUD, SAY IT LOUD!! I'M A PASS RAT AND I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! :-) :-)
I read in the Pass Herald that BC is going ahead with River Run. Why does the CNP media continue to support the delusions of a group that has squandered $14 million dollars of INVESTORS money? Why is there no hard investigative journalism looking into this? John you are wondering where the apathy comes from in your area. The Herald has once again shown that 'All's well in the Pass. We will keep believing the lies, no need to change or challenge.' Fear maybe of discovering the truth? That the politicians and media are in the same bed along with the carpetbaggers?
You are right Chloe, there is a 'direct connection' between at least one media outlet, 2 members of council and BC. If they are going to try and bamboozle everyone again, and sucker in even more victims, then everyone has the right to point this out about their self-serving ways. We as a community need to get 'serious' with these guys, as they have done us enough harm (with more to come, if we let them), just as the first two have done to us with the CLC business.
Please believe me when I say this. The RCMP are getting close!!
Trust that!!
any truth to this????
Rumour and gossip:
Someone has bought the "bunker" house on Kananaskis Rd. in Coleman for $500,000, had it appraised for $2,000,000 and got a $750,000 mortgage.
