Just got word that Fred Pyke passed away this morning at 5:20 a.m. He was a good man that will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Like Tommy Douglas before him, he was a small man who walked tall and was never afraid to stand up for what he believed in, no matter who or what was in front of him. Just goes to show you that in life, big things can come in small packages... "What greatness in the smallness."... A man of true Grit, deserving of respect and honour.
Rest in Peace my friend, and thank you for showing us the way and for being an inspiration to us all!
p.s. He leaves behind a loving wife Mary of over 60 years, and true sons' and daughter in Ron, Jim and Catherine, as well as many other loving family members and friends. Our love and support need to go out to them, but at the same time, we all can take some comfort knowing now his suffering is over and that he has gone to a better place.
A true friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire.
