It's just past midnight. The municipal election results have been 'sporadic' at best but the last results that I did see made no sense to me? Can anybody explain WTF happened? Bruce Decoux won by a landslide, with all the incumbents being wiped out, including Irwin and Dean, with even Gail Sygutek not even coming close? I don't get it? It just doesn't make any sense? How could so many of us get it so wrong?
I'm going to bed. Maybe in the morning I can make some sense of all this but right now I can't. Good Night!

Opinions gathered in online forums, regardless of the source, are often skewed because of the audience. However, personally I hope this is a chance for the town to leave behind the ridiculous "new versus old" battle and rhetoric that has done none of us any good, and maybe a whole new council can sit down and get to work with a fresh start.
Secret meetigs have been going on for months!
John, you wrote about it being time for a change, I guess the residents of the Pass agreed. It speaks volumes when 5 out of 6 incumbents aren't re-elected...the people really wanted change. Now let's hope this council can work together for the good of the Crowsnest Pass.
I think the residents finally did the right thing! Hopefully now we can move forward.

I think you not getting it is likely why you weren't elected, that was kinda the previous council's biggest problem, they didn't 'get it'. The people of Crowsnest spoke loud and clear.

Was very upset I had to leave town suddenly and could not vote, I would say it turned out pretty good, the best was to see Ward and Cole gone and Sygutek not get in. I could just see you and her again in council cambers! And to "WTF" try and be a gracious loser. The people have spoken!
I guess those polls had some merit after all!

Turn the page and still be respected for your obvious voice of the community. After all, all these people above are keeping tabs.
Now to the real problem for the area, the sickness that plagues the CNP is the Pass Herald, everyone knows it but it still gets support.
Unfortunately Lisa will still be in control of the "negative press" that anyone who has an interest in the area reads and losses any desire to be there.
I'm sure she will be claiming victory for herself somehow and will be putting that crazy spin on it to make it sound like what she said actually made a difference.
But alas, we all know what is going to happen don't we?
The sun is so bright today because of the changes that are coming from this new crop of elected warriors. But don't worry...
A little time will go by and someone will say something that won't sit right in little Lisa's gut and "POOF", the whole world will be paying again.

Like the previous poster said, chin up, and congratulations on your hard work. I sincerely hope you are not going anywhere and that this blog remains on line. I hope you remain an advocate for what is right..and a fighter against all that is wrong. I look forward to continuing communication with you through your blog. Enjoy your day, and be proud you are one of the few who stand up for what you believe in..and do not cower down to anyone.
I take offence to the comments being made about people in OUR Community. Get off your high arse and realize that the decision that was made was by the community as a whole. You give "Lisa" to much credit you nimwit. We wanted change and that is what we got, for 3 years Prince stood on the sidelines as an average every day community member and did not try to make a difference in our community. "Lisa" has been an active particitant in the community, has volunteered her time on numerous boards and has a family that is involved in the community as well, she has a lot invested here and it is time that you took a look at all she has done. She may have reported events negatively but really she is only reporting the facts and if it appears negative I guess it was. What one does in there past reflects how they will operate in the future, you would be wise to take that advice and stop pouting and embrace the change as you said "the sun is so bright today"....it certainly is!
To the person 2 comments up.....it doesn't surprise me that you would use the 'Anonymous' title to spout your harsh words against Lisa and the Pass Herald. Grow up, get a back bone and just accept the way it is. The way I see it, we needed this change. I congratulate everyone who was elected and those who worked hard to get in, even John. We are a small community and I am proud to see what we've all done to come together to make stuff happen around here! Cheers CNP! It's a beautiful day! : )
Seems to me as a "new-be" (only been here for 10 years) that the citizens of the CNP got it right this time. Those who have served on council in the past should reflect on "their performance on council". Such reflection just might shine a light on why an all new slate was elected. Larry Mitchell will be an experienced asset to those new members as they embark on this era of long awaited and totally necessary change. You tried and lost John relax and get on with your life. To vilify those that were successful speaks loudly about your character, THINK ABOUT IT!!
The smugness of the 'oh so enlightened residents' of CNP is suffocating. You have voted to stay with the same negative crap as before. Just hearing a rumor that the CLC will reopen is enough to say the damn lot of you have been duped once again. As long as the good doctor is pulling the strings, there will be no change. When are you going to get it? Enjoy your continued servitude to the doc and his posse.
Chloe, you are about as rational as John and that is not meant as a compliment!. For your info the doctor is no longer in any position to pull any strings, the electorate made certain of that last evening. Can't be sure of where the rumour re the CLC comes from but it is just that, a rumour, and should not scare anyone. The elected council will no doubt put the CLC issue to bed once and for all and in a proper manner this time i.e., with citizen involvement and without trickery. In any event, you have a right to your opinion and I have no problem with that. No doubt you are something more than "the damn lot of you" as you call those of us that don't agree with you. Relax and watch the new Mayor and Council demonstrate how wrong your assessment of them really is. Hopefully you will FINALLY GET IT!
Everyone is jumping on John here. I find that rather confusing. Will these same people be happy to open their wallets and pay more taxes when it comes time to clean up the River Run mess. The article in the Lethbridge Herald this past weekend states that it wil probably cost MILLIONS to clean it up. Who do you think will pay for this? Imagine, the coveted community center complete with indoor swimming pool cancelled in lieu of cleaning costs for an environmental catastrophe along highway 3. Ouch. Thanks for trying to fight the powers that be John. I can't understand why more people are not furious about this. Is it denial?
not sure wtf happened you are right. however the pass does need a new change and new faces and hopefully the people of the pass spoke this time
i sure wish nothing best for the best. and so sorry to here of your loss. you had enough guts to at least try to me mayor give you big credit for that.
