New Frank FasGas upgrade a downer

I am in receipt of the following email exchanges between Tim Grier of Bellevue and the Territory Manager of our newly renovated FasGas Service Station in Frank that I think more locals should be aware of.

Some of you may recall my earlier post from some months back (July) in which I voiced concerns that the price of gas at their station here in the Pass had been fixed at $096.9 for months (we are now in the month of November and the price is still the same. It has not changed!?) and that we were quite possibly being gouged by this corporate company that took over from former owner Suresh earlier this year.

Read for yourself the latest with respect to this company...

Subject: New Frank upgrade a downer

I have lived in the Crowsnest Pass the past four years and one of the most impressive social attributes upon moving here was the local employment provided by the full-service FasGas station in Frank; the station was a community pride providing work opportunities where there is little economic opportunity. It was this contribution to the community that compelled me to always purchase my fuel there, more so than the discount booklet. I will NOT continue to patronize the renovated station unless full-service is restored both for the traditional local employment opportunity but also for service to the elderly and others who need assistance. Your new station looks great, but aesthetics alone will not compel me to continue my support of this and other FasGas stations.

Sincerely,
Tim Grier

Note: I think Tim raises some valid concerns, and one certainly has to question also why it is, since the corporate takeover, the price of gas here in the Pass has been 'fixed' at the same high price (for at least 9 months now), when other gas stations in our region have been selling theirs for less, during this period. What do you think? Are we being gouged and taken advantage of by a corporate bully? Is there collusion among the gas stations in the Pass that the Competition Bureau needs to hear about and investigate into? (To anyone who says there is not collusion occurring in the pricing of gas, I say you've been sniffing too many fumes. There is most certainly something foul in the air when it comes to fuel charges.)

As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it.

I also emailed a similar complaint to FastGas.I also recieved the exact email response as you are showing. There is only 1 way that they will respond,Quit buying your gas at Fasgas.I remember when it was cheaper to pump your own gas instead of full serve. Why would I pump my own when there are full service stations in the Pass.

I agree there is an issue with the price of gas in the Crowsnest Pass, not only Fast Gas. The price has been stuck at 96.9 for several months, despite price changes in Lundbreck,Fort McLeod, Lethbridge, Claresholm, Calgary, Black Diamond, Nanton etc etc etc. I too think all the gas stations in the Pass are in collusion, and an investigation should be launched. How come the Chamber of Commerce hasn't been interested?

Again, the people of the Crownsest Pass are being taken advantage of. Wonder why that is the MO of this area? Hard to retain and attract people to this corrupt, yet beautiful place.

Dropped by FasGas today and see they are now providing 'full-service' at all their pumps. And the price of gas has finally changed from $096.9 where it has been for the past 9 months, at least, to a new price of $097.9.

Creating employment for people in our community only cost $001.0, because of a letter from Tim. WOW!!! Tim should write more letters!! We'd have full employment here before you knew it! At a cost of only fractions of a cent. :-)

But seriouswly, there is a lesson to be learned here, and that is the power of the people against the corporations to get fairness and equality back into our system... everything can't always be about the money.

It looks like FasGas has gotten that message. Hopefully, others will follow suit this Christmas Season.
