It seems to me that a new snow removal policy is already in place, in that for the first time in 16 winters living here I have not seen such poor snow removal in the Pass as I have seen in the last week or two? Were the graders down? In Bellevue a week or more went by before I saw a grader on our street? Or is what we have recently experienced the new norm?
The above is what I wrote by way of a comment on Councillor Brian Gallant's blog more than two weeks ago, on the subject of Snow and more snow.
This week's Herald has quite a few bricks and a quick peek read of a letter to the editor in today's Promoter tells me we got a 'new policy' that killed the 'old policy' (best practices) that worked very well, thank you very much!
I tell ya boys, when you voted in the suits you brought in big city thinking for small town problems (and the price tag that goes with it). Fixing what's not broken and ignoring what needs fixing is not how to be doing things. Our municipal guys know what they're doing, they've been doing it for a long time, and doing it well. Why don't you let them do what they know how to do and get back to work on fixing what needs fixing?
Finally, maybe what's needed at municipal hall is a new policy... a policy on priorities (instead of just making policies for policy sake the priority?). That way you can get on with real priorities instead of letting the small stuff bog you down.
Please give us back our old snow removal policy. And while you're at it, leave our spring cleanup alone too. Stop trying to fix what ain't broken, and fix instead what is... our equipment, employee morale and potholed streets, for example.
Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.

Almost 10 o'clock and haven't seen a snowplow yet? New snow removal policy says we don't work weekends either, despite 8" or more of snow? Somebody needs to get their clock fixed!!!
So, we get less services and yet our taxes are going up.We get more employees for less service, does this make sense? We have 2 councilors (Sage, Londsbury) who voted for a budget and did not realize that we were taking on long term debt. The one paper just barely mentioned this, the other not at all.If this would have happened in the last term to one of the 4 it would have been front page news.I also noticed that the vote on the budget was 4 -3.How come a certain paper is not making a big deal about this?
Now that our guy(s) are in we are not going to criticize council's decisions, seems to be what is coming from the Herald, now isn't it?
Smearing those they oppose is what they do best, factual reporting is what they do worse.
It's 11 on Sunday morning. We had over a foot of snow and I haven't seen nor heard one plow. Can't these guys build some weekend overtime into their budget?
Who would think that the Herald would not print a story about their boys.
Did those highly educated people really not know that they were putting us into debt. Oh No
How will they pay for equipment next year. More debt
Remember when 4 to 3 struck fear in the hearts of the citizens to save the Crowsnest Pass.

I was just informed by one of my readers that the municipal administration is recommending that cleanup will only be done for those 65+ and the disabled.
The comment from Keith I had a little chuckle about the 4-3.

Isn't that reverse age discrimination? :-( Don't we all pay taxes? Why should one half of the residents of this community of communities subsidize the other half, when just before we all 'enjoyed' a benefit together?
As it has been said, "As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it".
It seems to be deja-vu all over again, doesn't it? old school vs new school with a twist. An inverted twist at that, back to status quo.? Where's the real change we all were hoping for?
Everyone claims they want change but when someone has the guts to stand up and fight for it, everyone starts crying. People FEAR change!
