Mayor K.O.'s himself in his own newsletter

People in this country and in this community have always thought that we all have a god given right of dissent when it comes to how we are being governed. Apparently our Mayor does not think so?

In a draft version, emailed to me today by the municipality, of the recently released Municipal Newsletter #61 in the section titled Mayor's Corner his Worship Mayor Bruce Decoux attacks customers and patrons of barber shops and coffee shops, as well as newspapers and bloggers as purveyors of the 'untruth'. Whereas, of course, he and his council and administration are paragons of virtue and dispensers of 'noble truths'. ;-)

Well, excuse me all to hell Mayor, but I think you just stepped into a quagmire of your own making that is about to sink you like a rock into the political obliviousness of the walking dead, so to speak.

Dean’s blog has a pretty good commentary and some outstanding public opinion comments on this Mayor’s attempt to silence his critics while also inadvertently, I'm guessing, giving this community, once again, a black eye in the process. Exactly what the Mayor is accusing everybody else of doing?

What is to be done with 'Pompous Bruce' and his band of professional miscreants? The count-down to the next election is on and for many in this community, it can't come soon enough.

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.

Hi John,
When a mayor of a small town has to tell the public that he is telling the truth you can only come to one conclusion about it, he believes that the majority of the people are too stupid to find out by themselves what the truth is. The chances are that he's right because those people elected him. In these small towns, very few people like to hear the truth, especially, people in power. Their attitude is, what is mine is mine and what is yours will be mine soon. If your Mayor is telling the truth this monthy, why not ask him who is on the Board of your Community Economic Development so called Community Futures of Crowsnest Pass.
My guess is he's one of them like the past mayor to keep control.
Bye bye for now.

Here's a thought. I recently went there for the weekend and the people I talked to all had some sort of issue. Now there's a town hall meeting coming. Here's a few questions someone should ask. 1> With the raises in rates ie utilities and property tax, where is this money going too? Is there building going on? Are there repairs underway for something? 2> Why has there not been a clear plan laid out that the general populace can read somewhere? 3> From a pure business standpoint, why does it seem like Frank, Bellevue and Hillcrest are being sacrificed to save Blairmore and Coleman? 4> Why has NONE of the council considered offering INCENTIVES for people to come live there or start a business? I'm sorry but have ANY of these people heard of economics? My way or the highway does not attract business. These people have NO CLUE what to do, they are just throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks regardless of the damage it does. What's being written aren't "rumours" I hear this stuff from people living in other towns. Here's a hint, this crap that everything has to be "LOCAL" that's been the problem the whole time. Why do you think Walmart is in Pincher Creek and not Crowsnest Pass. NO ONE IN THEY'RE RIGHT MIND WOULD BUILD THERE UNDER THOSE TERMS. Might want to get that through the councils heads before they start spouting how 145 people emailed and 3 called saying it's a good idea for this stuff. Out of 5000 people you went on the word of 145 people? If you were a CEO, your company would be in the tank, you know where Crowsnest Pass is right now. Oh one last beef, people posting as anonymous doesn't help you, it help's the mayor and council because you are far too scared to speak up. If I were these guys, I'd hose you every which way from sunday too, what actually stops them? That's right, up until now. NOTHING. STAND UP ALREADY! Someone really should look into how many signatures a petition would need to get these people out or at the very least hold a new vote. I'll certainly be pushing for it. Crowsnest Pass needs people running it who know about how monetize things, not line they're own pockets and call themselves a success.

Town has money to burn. Newsletter arrived today in my mailbox on its own... not bundled in with the utility bills??

Fred,
Thanks for your comment Fred. Maybe we'll get some answers at the upcoming town hall meeting??

David,
Welcome aboard and thanks for your thoughtful comment. You raise some interesting questions that need to be addressed. So far, council has been extremely short on answers and on the economic development side of things.

Your not suggesting our mayor and council provides us with anything but the "unvarnished facts and truth", now are you? :-)

Anon @4:59
I noticed that myself and was surprized? What was it in the newsletter that was so important that had to come out prior to the town hall meeting? Was it the section called 'Mayor's Corner'? A preamble warm-up against those of us who frequent barber shops, coffee shops, the newspapers and us bloggers who dared to speak truths council doesn't like?
