Town Hall Meeting

Well Boys & Girls, here's your chance to thank Mayor and Council... or not?... for getting us to where we are now:

June 21, 2012

Council extends an invitation to the
Public to attend a Town Hall Meeting
Thursday, June 21st at 6:30 pm
at the Elks Hall located at
2025 – 129 Street Blairmore.
Beef on a Bun will be served prior to the meeting
in the Elks Hall parking lot
commencing at 5:00 pm.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Lofty promises are made, time passes, promises go unfulfilled, excuses are made and gross failures are forgotten, denied or downplayed and no one, except the public at large, pays for them.

Considering that this meeting is on such short notice, what do you think they are going to be telling us.My guess is a hotel.

I thought this meeting was called to dispell the so called rumours and lies being spread on all these blogs. A hotel would be nice until the people coming to stay are completely disenchanted with the extortionist prices of all the places there are to shop (not like there are many to start with). Not to mention if the people building it aren't "locals" they'll most likely be closing it within 3 to 6 months and leaving pretty pissed off like alot of others have. It's 2012 people, who cares if you are "local" or not, this whole community is on it's way down. It's time to wake the hell up and realize if you want fresh blood and business you should support it instead of kicking it to the curb because they aren't a friend or related to someone there. I may sound cynical here but it's happened far too many times and we all know it.

Could be? I'm sure it's not to tell us how much they appreciate all the money we have been giving them that has magically disappeared into an endless black hole.

David,
Welcome back David. I think you speak too much truth that long-time residents and our elites have consistently over the years refused to listen to. Maybe now their ears will be opened, considering the facts are now in that for some time now our community has been dying a slow death. The times are a changing and hopefully people's attitudes and behaviours here will follow suit.

Anon @2:11
Consider it this way. Now's your chance, if you don't want to eat it, you can always throw it. :-)

I'd rather bring my own tomatoes.

According to the Tuesday Council minutes, administration is to negotiate a land sale for a hotel.

The "successful proponent" was supposed to be selected by an "Evaluation Committee", but no such committee was created by motion of Council.

So, who made this decision? There is nothing in the Council minutes about it.

Councillors are supposed to recuse themselves from any conflict of interest situation. I have no reason to think there is any conflict, but if there was, there have been no public discussions or votes to recuse themselves from. It's all secret back-room meetings.

We just have to trust their honesty. And competence (I have trouble with that part).
