Is our Mayor a liar?

Was it our Mayor's intention from day one to do away with Thunder in the Valley (TITV)... for good?

Deliberately picking a fight with the Blairmore Fire Department (BFD) (our very own local pyrotechs) then using lame excuses most people did not buy into and in fact were mostly disproven by myself and others to cancel this year's TITV, followed now by the mayor's very own publicly funded propaganda September newsletter, in which he states in so many words in his Mayor's Corner, the death of TITV, for next year too.

"Community groups who enjoy volunteering for such activities or benefit directly from such activities may or may not decide to proffer such festivals." (bold emphasis mine).

One has to wonder if he was not lying to us all from day one? That his and his council's intention all along was to kill TITV from ever happening again.

Events suggest that this was his real agenda. If true, then he has been lying to us. Which begs the question, as if this alone wasn't bad enough, what else has he and his council been telling us that isn't true??

Mayor's Corner - September 14th, 2012

The exposure of a lie is as valuable to a community as a clearly expressed truth.

It looks like this was the plan all along. They defer Thunder for 1 year, telling us that it may be back next year.It seems as if they should have been working very hard to make sure that Thunder would go next year. Now they come out and say if you want it you better organize it and come through us for approval. What should be happening is that council admits there mistake and get to work with all of the parties that were running the event. No one is going to go to this council and ask for the right to put on a show. How there is not a few councilors standing up and fighting tooth and nail to save this thing is beyond me.What are they so afraid of?

"Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence"

BTW, do you know of any other place where incumbent politicians use publicly funded media to promote their agenda?

"It has been made evident to us over the past few months that Council, as well as the RCMP, have lacked the support or desire to see this event continue. As it finally came to a tipping point on March 6, 2012, it became very clear that the members of the council have been looking for reasons to cancel the event rather than find solutions to promote and continue with it."
