Support Me: "Tip Jar for John"

In case some readers here don't realize it there is no money speaking truth to power. Let me say that again, there’s no money in speaking the truth. If alternative media in Canada had so much as one percent of the financial resources of the Globe and Mail, CTV News or any MSM outlet, we could conquer the world in a month. The only way to get rich in a society that worships liars, cheats and thieves is to lie, cheat and steal; selling out is an ever-present temptation.

The only way for independent, alternative media to stay that way is with independent, alternative sources of funding.

From my recent poll (on the left sidebar) and further to my previous post it is quite obvious by now, even though the poll has yet to close, that most of my readers here would prefer to see no advertising on this blog. With this in mind, a frequent visitor here in an email exchange suggested I do a "Tip Jar" instead. I thought, "what the hell, got nothing to lose, it's worth a shot".

Granted, you don’t have to give me anything. I appreciate your readership either way, and it’s not like I have to do this. But if my efforts in speaking the truth resonate with you in making you think, or in simply entertaining you, then why not support alternative media?

Help fight the cause of allowing me during these hard economic times to continue on with my work here of speaking out on issues important to us all, while continuing to live the life I have grown accustomed to i.e. like eating, having shelter, and 'enjoying' the simple good things in life, like occasionally having breakfast with my wife at Timmy's. :-)

So with the above in mind, don't be shy... Tip Tip Tip Away! :-)

The comfort of the rich depends upon an abundant supply of the poor.

Dear John I saw your TIP Jar request. I hope you get something as I realize this web site costs you money. What you may or may not have learned living here for so many years is that the majority of the people here are takers and not givers. Good luck John I hope your bloggers are the few that actually give.

Give the gift of your absence to those who do not appreciate your presence, and see how they like it.

Just says "Tip jar for John" and there is a "BUY NOW" button. Can you please post a few pics of the jar so that I can have a better understanding of what I am buying?

Just kiddin...

3 27 Give the gift of your absence. What a parasitic comment. Are you a councillor? A high paid consultant to the Council or a contractor of some sort? The ones that don’t appreciate John for telling the truth to the public in my book are accomplished SHYSTERS. Why do so many people pay attention after John wakes them up? Including you, who are not even smart enough to come up with a constructive comment. MORON MORON MORON

I think you misinterpreted 3:27's comment. In fact, I know you did because I made it and it was the opposite of how you took it. That is, if John were to stop posting here his absence would be felt, therefore people should support his work to prevent this from happening. Now who's the MORON? Just kidding. ;-)

Re your coverage of Riversdale:

Professional journalists protect the identity of their sources, but if you go to them with a hot tip they will say "Everything you tell me is for publication". There are some exceptions to this rule (eg. "until notification of next-of-kin") but if the information is made public anywhere, all deals are off.

Being an "alternative journalist" I guess you can make your own rules, but the journalistic tradition is to put your readers' right to know first.

Excuse the pun but you are right on the money "takers and not givers". Aside from one very generous donation my tip jar is empty. :-(

The thought before your written comment is missing? I don't understand what you are saying here, or implying?
