What Game is our Mayor Playing Now?
Heard on the radio yesterday that our Mayor wants to have a private meeting with a group of newcomers and weekenders.
Who are these newcomers and weekenders? Are they a newly organized group such as the Ratepayers? Are they meant to counter the Ratepayers (bearing in mind many Ratepayers are newcomers and weekenders themselves)? Do they plan on being the Mayor's silent majority? Have they been organized by certain council members who being newcomers themselves are desperate to show council has some support in the community? Is this yet another desperate attempt by Mayor and council to divide and split the community even more for sinister political opportunistic purposes? So many questions, and again no answers?
On the news yesterday the Mayor really sounded keen on meeting with these people ASAP while distancing himself even further from another Town Hall Meeting where ALL residents, including those long-time residents he seems so determined to avoid at all costs, can meet with him too.
After all, was it not the Mayor himself who stated after last June's Town Hall Meeting that he wanted to do one or two more of these Town Hall Meetings before the end of the year. Never happened? But he does seem eager to want to meet with a certain segment of our community. Very interesting?
Stay tuned for the propaganda that is sure to follow once certain councillors wife's and friends get the media spotlight.
Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive???

I guess any group can request a meeting - same as the ratepayers do.
Probably does not mean too much on the whole. He can meet with who he wants.
John, I'll kick this off. The community is so intertwined with the ex volunteer firemen that a large segment of the Crowsnest Pass population has been alienated by His Worship. Perhaps He had time to reflect over the Holidays. after Santa left Him a lump of coal.
Giving a pitch to the newcomers and weekenders may give Him a perceived base of support, before the Inspection. Perhaps Misty can be the Chairperson of the Group. He likely needs a Group or Committee to present a positive spin to the Inspector.
Our new Municipal motto should be "we don't have just a revenue (taxing) problem, we have a real spending problem". I'd bet that this is becoming more obvious as each day passes.

Plain silly, just as silly as saying “heavy industry,” which must remain unnamed, will be making an announcement at the end of the second quarter – no wait, - at the end of the first quarter – no wait, – at the end of January. If the “heavy industry” has asked that announcements are not made on their behalf, why is someone making a string of half- hearted announcements for them? It’s like a kid in the playground saying, “I know a secret, but I can’t tell you.” Adult help from Edmonton can’t arrive soon enough
This one is funny. Define weekender and new comer.Would you have to prove that you are one of these. How would you prove that you are one of these? So I guess certain members of council could go to the meeting but not all.Would it be a secret meeting?Would the media be invited?
The mare is losing his marbles and the lemmings are just tripping all over those lost marbles.
A very strange politcal move, reinforcing how out of touch he is, by not addressing the concerns of the bulk of the population in the same manor.

He can meet with who he wants.
Bruce can meet with who he wants in his living room, or rent a hall if he has that many friends.
But if Himself's Worship wants to hold court on Municipal premises, the meeting should be called by Council resolution and properly advertised. It should be open to the public and minutes should be taken wherein councillors may record their pecuniary interests if any arise.
The town hall and MDM meetings, and others, did not follow these legalities. This will be brought to the attention of the Investigator.

I do not agree. Does he also need a resolution to talk on the radio. I don't think most mayors have their every move monitored. My goodness.
Perhaps he should post his washroom breaks. You people could see if he takes too long.
10 .58 Perhaps he should post his washroom breaks.ARE you serious? He would be there forever he is full of it.If you understand this.
To 5.47 YOU do not agree. Who are you mister anonymous? If our MARE opens his mouth about the CNP every one in town MUST be informed. He is a public person elected by the public accountable to the PUBLIC. Very simple.
IF he wants to have friends he should use Bruce and leave the word Mayor out. HE was given that name by the people of CNP to represent them. That’s the only reason he has to use that TITLE. If he wants to bs someone then that special name is out of the equation. You are on your own Mister BRUCE.

I do not agree.
As Minister Griffiths said:
The MGA sets out clear requirements for municipal councils to conduct their business openly (except in very limited and specific circumstances).
They should not be having unofficial secret back room meetings with special interest groups. Not much we can do if it's in Bruce's living room, but if they are using municipal facilities we should insist they act lawfully.
Why would this surprise you after all thats what his agenda has been all about from the begining. He is trying to please a few weekend retreaters and newcomers who dont really like the Crowsnest Pass for what it is. They want to change it to what they came from. He is going to get a wakeup call come next election when he finds out this is not their primary residence and they will not be eligible to vote.
Last statistic I heard - somewhere around 30%+of the households in the Pass are "Weekenders" Why in the would we want to alienate them? Sorry - I do not get it. I do not think that the "Mare" as you refer to him has such a sinister agenda here as suggested. From my observation - the appearance is that he is trying to connect to other taxpayers in the community, even though they may not be here every day. Otherwise, if folks feel that is not the right approach to reaching out to these members of the community - they need to get busy at doing something else other than looking at blogs to increase the population in our community! That's a happy thought.
Anon @11:53
Defending the Mayor is one thing but attacking the medium (blogs) as the source of evil, shiftiness or laziness is not a happy thought. In fact, it shows ignorance and hypocrisy on your part.
