Councillor Saje spills the beans on lack of transparency

Well that didn't take long? On Saturday, in my Newcomers vs Long-time Residents post, I closed that article with the following...

p.s. It seems like at least one councillor has distanced himself from the pack (see quote below) but to-date has failed to publicly say so, except by his absence. Will more follow suit? Or will they all choose to stubbornly go down with the ship, rather than admit they have been wrong? Time will tell? But time is running out...

When you have to start compromising yourself or your morals for the people around you, it’s probably time to change the people around you.

Today, I see in the Pass Herald that Councillor Andrew Saje has broken with the pack and come out swinging for residents here in the Pass, with respect to due process and council's (mayor and CAO specifically) apparent lack of transparency and accountability, and heavy-duty underhandedness. Read the story here...

Correlations between process and transparency - by Andrew Saje

UPDATE: Further to Councillor Saje's revelations today, Dean Ward on his blog has done a spot-on analysis of how he feels our current mayor and CAO have manipulated the system in order to undemocratically control council's agenda.

John you and your readers should check out the PR firm they hired. So how much do you think it is costing us to use Mr Tanti?

Mr. Saje shows integrity and backbone with his article. We have elected our councillors to use their own judgement and common sense to serve our community. This means to speak up when they see things which do not appear right. Hiring an expensive public relations consulting firm without a vote is way over the top. While Mr. Decoux may claim to have not broken any laws in doing this, a small community like ours needs better stewardship of our limited resources. The other councillors should know better.

Mr Saje better late than never but you should have given the MARE the middle finger 6 months after being elected. You waited to long, the damage is done, the MONEY is gone, thanks for nothing. You are not helping the situation there is nothing left to screw up. You feel so much guilt you could not sleep at night this is the only reason you blew your cork. The MARE 1 VOTE THE COUNCILLOR 1 vote. EACH OF YOU 1 MOUTH. He used his you never used yours until the term is almost over. Can you tell me what was the point of having you in that SEAT. Please explain???????

It was obvious in the Townhall meeting this past summer that the CAO was at the beckoning of the Mayor. This shone through when the CAO's place of residence was discussed and His Worship was there to defend him. His Worship thus had a Loyal Servant and used him as necessary.

Now how and why the Councillors rolled over is the mystery, except that they likely bought into the 21st Century BS. For this they should pay at the polls. It will be interesting to see if this Agenda moves us forward or places us into the Crash and Burn mode. What's in YOUR wallet?

We have to give Andrew Saje big thanks; it is always better late than never. Sometimes it is hard to break away from a straight jacket someone puts on you, at least he did. All the rest of the councillors will just sit there trying to look as if everything is going according to the “Municipal Strategic Plan.” This has been the worst excuse for a council we have had here in the 22 years since this newcomer moved to CNP. It is likely our Mayor was hoping his vast arsenal of bureaucratic skills would just sweep this bungling misrule somewhere under a carpet. It’s not happening. One could not make this up.

6 59 Which cloud are you living on come down to earth for a visit.I have been to many council meetings to belive the straight jacket BS.When these people got elected how come no one warned them about those straight jackets. If they did not know how to release themself they had no business to compete for those seats. If you can not represente the PUBLIC don' t ask them to vote for you SIMPLE. IF your a follower this is the wrong job for you just lower your expectations and smile.

Saje's article was naturally rewarding!

Well, I'll decide mathematically. (I like math.) 29 months x -1 point, +1 (for March)= -28. If he gets to 0, I'll think about voting for him!

But he did make my day!

Kudos to councillor Saje for exposing the goings-on of the mayor and council! It took lots of courage to do it, especially with months of his term to finish out. I think he deserves a huge pat on the back! Thanks!

Pat, pat, pat, there you go Andrew. I really did appreciate your article.

Now.....what's with that hand going up, you know, the one where you voted to close the Hillcrest Firehall?
